OUTREACHES

Here at Spoken Word, a large part of our ministry is outside of our church walls. Not only do we sponsor other ministries financially, but we go ourselves. Over 20 nations have been touched by ministers from our headquarters. Our senior pastor, Ron Hunter, frequently travels each year to other nations teaching and training leaders and the body of Christ. Other members of our staff also go to the nations to do the same.

As of 2005, Spoken Word Caribbean Outreach will be established with Bill and Linda Zorn, which will be based in Jamaica.

Video Bible schools will also be established in East Africa, India and the Philippines, in preparation for permanent training facilities. Over 100,000 souls have been born again through this ministry over the years, but that is a small portion of what God has promised that we will see. Not only do we go to the nations, but we work hard to evangelize and reach out to the local community. For many years we have ministered to migrant workers who come during the month of June to work the local farms. Many have been born again and receive Bibles, food and clothes.

Members of this ministry have also been working with Campus Crusade for Christ to reach Marine Corp Recruits at Parris Island Recruit Depot. Teams from the church also go out into the local area to share the good news of Jesus Christ on a regular basis with those in the community, and we are the process of creating our CARE Program which will be a source of food and basic necessities for those in need.

Video and audio are also ways that we reach out. Our weekly television broadcast that is seen here locally is also sent out to other nations. Videos, books and tapes are sent all over the world to assist others inn the Christian walk.

People here are trained in these avenues as a way of helping to share the gospel. We believe that the core to every ministry should be to reach out and fulfill their part of the Great Commission. We do not believe in side line Christianity, so we endeavor to train and equip our members to do the work of the ministry as found in Ephesians chapter 4.
